Sidney Lanier

Sidney Lanier was an American musician, poet, and author born on February 3, 1842, in Macon, Georgia, and died on September 7, 1881. He served in the Confederate army during the American Civil War. After the war, he pursued a career in law and later in teaching, but he is most renowned for his poetry. Lanier's works often focused on nature, love, and spirituality, and he is noted for his use of musical concepts in the rhythm and meter of his poetry.
