Ross Thomas

Ross Thomas was an American writer of crime fiction and is best known for his witty political thrillers. Born on February 19, 1926, in Oklahoma City, he served in the Philippines during World War II and later worked as a public relations specialist, journalist, and political strategist. Thomas began his writing career in the 1960s and quickly became known for his complex plots, sharp dialogue, and memorable characters. His notable works include 'The Cold War Swap', his debut novel which won the 1967 Edgar Award for Best First Novel, and 'Briarpatch', which won the Edgar Award for Best Novel in 1985. He passed away on December 18, 1995.
