Rosario Castellanos

Rosario Castellanos was a prominent Mexican poet, novelist, and essayist. Born on May 25, 1925, in Mexico City, she became one of the country's leading literary figures in the 20th century. Her work often addressed the cultural and social issues of her time, including the oppression of women and the indigenous peoples of Mexico. She is known for her powerful narratives that blend both feminist and social justice themes. Castellanos' notable works include 'Balún Canán' and 'Oficio de tinieblas'. She also served as Mexico's ambassador to Israel before her untimely death in 1974.
