Valeri Petrov

Valeri Petrov was a prominent Bulgarian poet, screenwriter, playwright, and translator. Born on April 22, 1920, in Sofia, Bulgaria, he made significant contributions to Bulgarian literature and cinema. Petrov's work is known for its lyrical quality, humor, and depth, touching on themes of love, humanity, and social justice. He translated into Bulgarian the complete works of Shakespeare and works of other notable authors like Giovanni Boccaccio and Federico GarcĂ­a Lorca. Petrov was also involved in writing scripts for animated and feature films, making him a versatile figure in Bulgarian arts. He passed away on August 27, 2014.
