Iris Origo

Iris Origo was a British-born biographer and writer. She is best known for her autobiographical work 'War in Val d'Orcia' and for her biographies on historical figures. Origo spent much of her life in Italy, where she dedicated herself to the restoration and cultivation of the estate at La Foce in Tuscany, which became a refuge for children and escaped Allied prisoners during World War II.
