Luis Martín-Santos

Luis Martín-Santos was a prominent Spanish psychiatrist and author, best known for his novel 'Tiempo de Silencio' (Time of Silence), which is considered a masterpiece of Spanish post-war literature. Born on November 11, 1924, in Larache, at that time a Spanish protectorate in Morocco, he combined his medical career with his literary work. Martín-Santos introduced new narrative techniques influenced by modernist writers and existential philosophy. His literary output was cut short when he died in a car accident on January 21, 1964.
