Leon Forrest

Leon Forrest (January 8, 1937 – November 6, 1997) was an African American novelist. His works are known for their complex, mythic style and rich references to African-American history and Western literature. Forrest was admired for his explorations of race, family, and identity in America, particularly in his acclaimed novel 'Divine Days'. He served as a professor at Northwestern University and was the chairman of the African American Studies department there.
