Jean Webster

Jean Webster (pseudonym for Alice Jane Chandler Webster) was an American author and playwright, best known for her novel 'Daddy-Long-Legs' (1912). Born on July 24, 1876, in Fredonia, New York, she wrote several novels that often featured young female protagonists who were intellectually curious and socially conscious. Her works frequently addressed issues of social injustice and women's education. Webster passed away at a young age on June 11, 1916, shortly after giving birth to her daughter.
