Richmal Crompton

Richmal Crompton was an English writer, best known for her Just William series of books, humorous short stories, and books about the adventures of a mischievous schoolboy named William Brown. Born Richmal Crompton Lamburn on November 15, 1890, she originally trained as a schoolteacher but turned to writing full-time after her success with the William series. Her work remains popular and has been adapted for stage, television, and film. Crompton wrote over 40 books in the series, as well as numerous other novels and collections for both children and adults. She passed away on January 11, 1969.
