Ilya Kaminsky

Ilya Kaminsky is a Ukrainian-American poet, critic, translator, and professor known for his literary works that explore themes of immigration, identity, and the impact of political upheaval. Born in Odessa, former Soviet Union (now Ukraine), Kaminsky lost most of his hearing at the age of four after a misdiagnosis. He began writing poetry in English after his family was granted asylum in the United States in 1993. His notable works include 'Dancing In Odessa' (2004) and 'Deaf Republic' (2019), which have received critical acclaim and numerous literary awards.
