Oleg Sentsov

Oleg Sentsov is a Ukrainian filmmaker and writer known for his opposition to the annexation of Crimea by Russia and his subsequent imprisonment by Russian authorities. He was arrested in 2014 and sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of terrorism, which were widely considered to be fabricated. His case drew international attention and he became a symbol of resistance against Russian aggression in Ukraine. Sentsov was released in September 2019 as part of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
