Christopher Okigbo

Christopher Okigbo was a Nigerian poet and teacher who is considered one of the most important African poets to write in English. His work is known for its intensity and unique blend of modernist techniques with Igbo mythology and symbolism. Okigbo's poetry is also recognized for its lyrical beauty and its exploration of the themes of identity, spirituality, and the impact of colonialism on African cultures. Tragically, his promising literary career was cut short when he died in the Nigerian Civil War in 1967.
