Ifi Amadiume

Ifi Amadiume is a Nigerian poet, anthropologist, and essayist. Born in 1947, she is best known for her work in African studies and gender studies, particularly for her influential book 'Male Daughters, Female Husbands: Gender and Sex in an African Society.' In this and other works, she challenges Western conceptions of gender and family structure, drawing on her research on the Igbo people to highlight the fluidity and complexity of these concepts in different cultural contexts.
