Dalton Trumbo

Dalton Trumbo was an American screenwriter and novelist who was blacklisted by the Hollywood film industry in the 1940s during the Red Scare for his alleged communist affiliations. Despite this, he continued to write and even won two Academy Awards while blacklisted, using pseudonyms. He is known for his works such as 'Roman Holiday', 'Spartacus', and his anti-war novel 'Johnny Got His Gun'. Trumbo was one of the 'Hollywood Ten', a group of professionals who refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) about their political beliefs and were subsequently blacklisted. His fight against the HUAC and the blacklist was a significant event in the history of American civil liberties.
