Nigel Kneale

Nigel Kneale was a British screenwriter and author, best known for his work in science fiction. He was born on April 18, 1922, in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England, and passed away on October 29, 2006. Kneale gained prominence for creating the character Professor Bernard Quatermass, a British rocket scientist who becomes involved in various science fiction adventures. The character appeared in a series of BBC Television serials, starting with 'The Quatermass Experiment' in 1953. Kneale's work on the Quatermass series and other TV dramas, such as 'The Stone Tape' and 'The Year of the Sex Olympics', has been highly influential in the genres of science fiction and horror.
