Mór Jókai

Mór Jókai, also known as Maurus Jokai, was a Hungarian dramatist and novelist, born on February 18, 1825, in Komárom, Hungary. He is considered one of the most prolific and popular Hungarian writers of his time, with a vast body of work that includes novels, plays, and short stories. Jókai's romantic style and masterful storytelling earned him a significant place in Hungarian literature. He was also a member of the Hungarian Parliament and an influential figure in the country's political and cultural life. His best-known work is perhaps 'The Man with the Golden Touch' ('Az arany ember'), which reflects his keen insight into human character and society. Mór Jókai passed away on May 5, 1904, in Budapest.
