Hervé Bazin

Hervé Bazin was a prominent French writer, known for his novels that often explored family dynamics and societal norms. Born on April 17, 1911, in Angers, France, he gained fame with his first novel, 'Vipère au poing' (Viper in the Fist), which is a semi-autobiographical account of his own troubled childhood under a tyrannical mother. The novel is the first part of a trilogy that includes 'La Mort du petit cheval' and 'Le Cri de la chouette'. Bazin was also the President of the Académie Goncourt from 1973 to 1974. He passed away on February 17, 1996.
