Euclid

Euclid, often referred to as the 'Father of Geometry', was an ancient Greek mathematician active in Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy I (323–283 BC). He is best known for his work 'Elements', which is one of the most influential works in the history of mathematics, serving as the main textbook for teaching mathematics (especially geometry) from the time of its publication until the late 19th or early 20th century. Euclid's Elements is a collection of definitions, postulates, propositions (theorems and constructions), and mathematical proofs of the propositions. The work covers topics such as plane geometry, number theory, and the properties of geometric figures.
