The book follows the story of Matilda, an exceptionally intelligent young girl who is neglected and mistreated by her parents. Matilda eventually uses these abilities to defend her friends from their tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, and help her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey, reclaim her life.
