Chrétien de Troyes

Chrétien de Troyes was a medieval poet and troubadour, known for his significant contribution to Arthurian literature. He wrote during the late 12th century and is best known for his romances including 'Erec and Enide', 'Cligès', 'Yvain, the Knight of the Lion', 'Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart', and 'Perceval, the Story of the Grail'. His works are among the earliest known written accounts of the Arthurian legends and have had a profound influence on the development of the chivalric romance genre in Europe.
