Giordano Bruno

Giordano Bruno was an Italian Dominican friar, philosopher, mathematician, poet, and cosmological theorist. He is known for his controversial viewpoints, which challenged the orthodox Catholic teachings of his time. He proposed the idea of an infinite universe and the plurality of worlds. Bruno's cosmological theories went beyond the Copernican model by proposing that the stars were just distant suns surrounded by their own exoplanets. He also argued for the unity of nature and its infinite diversity. His ideas were considered heretical, leading to his eventual execution by burning at the stake in 1600.
