Michel Leiris

Michel Leiris was a French surrealist writer and ethnographer. He was associated with the Surrealist movement in the 1920s and later became known for his work in ethnography. Leiris is also noted for his autobiographical writings, which explore his experiences and inner life in a candid and introspective manner. His most famous work is 'L'Âge d'homme' (1939), known in English as 'Manhood'. He was deeply involved in the study of African cultures and was part of the Dakar-Djibouti ethnographic expedition.
