Max Jacob

Max Jacob was a French poet, painter, writer, and critic. Born on July 12, 1876, in Quimper, Brittany, he was associated with the artistic community in Montmartre and was a close friend of Pablo Picasso. Jacob is known for his unique blend of symbolism, surrealism, and cubism in his work. He converted from Judaism to Catholicism in 1915, which deeply influenced his poetry. His notable works include the prose poem collection 'Le cornet à dés' and the poem 'Le laboratoire central'. Max Jacob died during World War II on March 5, 1944, after being interned in a concentration camp due to his Jewish heritage.
