Vasko Popa

Vasko Popa was a Serbian poet of Romanian descent, widely considered one of the most important figures of modern Serbian literature. Born on June 29, 1922, in Grebenac, Vojvodina, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, he is best known for his unique poetic style and his ability to infuse mythological and folkloric elements into his work. His poetry has been translated into numerous languages, and he has received several significant literary awards. Popa's most notable works include 'Kora' (Bark) and 'Sporedno nebo' (Secondary Heaven). He passed away on January 5, 1991, in Belgrade.
