Ferenc Molnár

Ferenc Molnár was a renowned Hungarian playwright and novelist, born on January 12, 1878, in Budapest. He gained fame for his witty and sophisticated comedies of manners. Among his most famous works is 'The Paul Street Boys' (1906), a novel that has become a classic of youth literature. Molnár's plays, such as 'Liliom' (1909), which was later adapted into the musical 'Carousel,' and 'The Guardsman' (1910), have been performed widely and contributed significantly to the theatrical world. He passed away on April 1, 1952, in New York City.
