Annemarie Selinko

Annemarie Selinko was an Austrian novelist, best known for her novel 'Désirée', which was published in 1951. The book is a fictionalized account of the life of Désirée Clary, who was once engaged to Napoleon Bonaparte and later became Queen of Sweden and Norway when she married Jean Baptiste Bernadotte. Selinko's work was popular during the mid-20th century, and 'Désirée' was adapted into a Hollywood film in 1954 starring Marlon Brando and Jean Simmons.
