Marta Hillers

Marta Hillers was a German journalist and author, best known for her memoir 'Eine Frau in Berlin' ('A Woman in Berlin'), which recounts her experiences during the fall of Berlin at the end of World War II when she and many other women were raped by Soviet soldiers. The book was published anonymously in 1959 and met with controversy, leading to it being out of print for several decades. It was republished in 2003 after her death and received widespread acclaim for its candid and harrowing depiction of the hardships faced by civilians during the war.
