Avni Doshi

Avni Doshi is an American author best known for her debut novel 'Burnt Sugar', which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2020. The novel, originally published in India under the title 'Girl in White Cotton', explores the complex relationship between a mother and daughter. Doshi's work is recognized for its incisive exploration of themes such as memory, betrayal, and the familial bond. Prior to her literary success, Doshi earned a BA in Art History from Barnard College and an MA in History of Art from University College London.
