Andrea Camilleri

Andrea Camilleri was an Italian writer, most famous for his series of detective novels featuring the character Inspector Montalbano. Born in 1925 in Porto Empedocle, Sicily, Camilleri began his career as a director and screenwriter before turning to writing novels in the late 1970s. His Montalbano series, which started with 'The Shape of Water' in 1994, brought him international fame and has been translated into numerous languages. Camilleri's writing is known for its vivid portrayal of Sicilian life and culture, as well as its engaging plots and complex characters. He passed away in July 2019.
