Hiram Percy Maxim

Hiram Percy Maxim (1869–1936) was an American inventor, engineer, and author, best known for inventing the Maxim Silencer, a device for silencing the sound of firearm discharge. He was also the founder of the American Radio Relay League and contributed significantly to amateur radio.
