Philip MacDonald was a British author and screenwriter, known for his mystery and detective novels. He was one of the leading writers of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction and created the character Colonel Anthony Gethryn. MacDonald also wrote screenplays for Hollywood films, including adaptations of his own works.
