U.S. Government Accountability Office

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, non-partisan agency that works for Congress. Often called the 'congressional watchdog,' GAO investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars and provides Congress with objective, reliable information to help the government save money and work more efficiently.
