Marija Gimbutas

Marija Gimbutas was a Lithuanian-American archaeologist and anthropologist known for her research into the Neolithic and Bronze Age cultures of 'Old Europe' and her theories on the role of women in prehistoric societies. She is best known for her work on the concept of a matriarchal society and the goddess-centered culture of prehistoric Europe.
