John Woodroffe
John George Woodroffe, also known by his pseudonym Arthur Avalon, was a British Orientalist whose work helped to popularize Indian philosophy and Tantra in the West. He was a barrister and a judge in the Calcutta High Court and later became a reader in Indian Law at the University of Oxford.
