Hrotsvitha

Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim was a 10th-century German canoness, dramatist, and poet who is considered the first female playwright. She wrote in Latin and is known for her plays that often featured strong Christian themes and virtuous female protagonists. Her works were part of the Ottonian Renaissance, a period of cultural and artistic revival in the Holy Roman Empire.
