  1. 1. Cathleen Ni Houlihan

Set against the backdrop of Ireland's struggle for independence, this play unfolds in a rural Irish household on the eve of a young man's wedding. The arrival of a mysterious old woman, who symbolizes Ireland itself, disrupts the family's plans as she recounts tales of past glories and sacrifices made for the country's freedom. Her haunting presence and impassioned plea for help stir the young man's patriotic fervor, leading him to abandon his personal happiness for the greater cause of national liberation. Through its allegorical narrative, the play explores themes of sacrifice, identity, and the enduring spirit of a nation.
