Silius Italicus
Silius Italicus was a Roman consul, orator, and poet known for his epic poem 'Punica', which is the longest surviving poem in Latin literature. It covers the Second Punic War and is notable for its historical detail and epic style. Silius Italicus was also known for his admiration of Virgil and his efforts to emulate him.
