Richard Hamming

Richard Wesley Hamming was an American mathematician and computer scientist whose work had many implications for computer science and telecommunications. He is best known for his work on error-detecting and error-correcting codes, particularly the Hamming Code, and for his contributions to numerical methods and the development of the Hamming distance concept.
