  1. 1. The Cosmic Zoom

    Scale, Knowledge, and Mediation

A critical exploration of how scale operates as a mediating force that shapes knowledge, perception, and power across science, art, and popular media. Through close readings of zoom sequences, scientific instruments, comics, film, and digital interfaces, it shows how shifting scales transform objects and worlds, producing both insight and blind spots. The book proposes “scale literacy” and practical frameworks for navigating contemporary challenges—from climate modeling to data visualization—by attending to the politics and epistemologies embedded in scaling practices.
