1. Les Fonctions De La Parure Au Paléolithique Supérieur
An interdisciplinary analysis of Upper Paleolithic personal ornaments—beads, pendants, and perforated teeth and shells—combining typology, technology, use-wear, and spatial-temporal data to reconstruct their roles in social signaling, identity, exchange networks, mobility, and rites of passage. It argues that adornment functioned as a key medium of symbolic communication shaping group boundaries and alliances, and shows how raw material choices and manufacturing traditions varied across regions and periods to illuminate broader demographic and cultural change.
