Jean-Jacques Hublin

French paleoanthropologist and former director of the Department of Human Evolution at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, noted for influential work on Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens, including leading the Jebel Irhoud research that pushed the origins of Homo sapiens in Morocco to about 300,000 years ago.
