Alexander Burnes

Scottish explorer, geographer, and diplomat in British India, known for his expeditions to Sindh, the Punjab, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. Author of Travels into Bokhara (1834), he was assassinated in Kabul during the First Anglo-Afghan War.
