Gunnar Myrdal

Gunnar Myrdal was a Swedish economist and sociologist who received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1974, shared with Friedrich Hayek, for his pioneering work in the theory of money and economic fluctuations and for his penetrating analysis of the interdependence of economic, social and institutional phenomena. He is also known for his influential book 'An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy,' which examined the issue of race relations in the United States. Myrdal's work often addressed issues of social policy and his approach was marked by a concern for social justice and equality.
