Saadia Gaon
Medieval Jewish philosopher, exegete, grammarian, and Gaon (head) of the Sura academy. He authored Emunoth ve-Deoth, translated and commented on the Hebrew Bible in Judeo-Arabic, compiled a siddur, and led intellectual opposition to Karaism.
