نزار قباني

Nizar Tawfiq Qabbani (1923–1998) was a Syrian poet, diplomat, and publisher, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Arabic literature. Known for his lyrical love poetry and later for politically charged verse after the 1967 war, he served in Syria’s diplomatic corps (1945–1966) and later lived in Beirut and London. His elegy 'Balqis' mourned his wife, killed in a 1981 Beirut bombing.
