1. The Demonology Of King James I
In Forme of a Dialogue, Divided into Three Books
A polemical, dialogued treatise arguing for the real and dangerous presence of witches, demons, and necromancy, it combines Biblical theology, legal reasoning, contemporary witchcraft cases, and learned sources to justify the investigation and prosecution of suspected practitioners. The work explains supposed rituals and pacts with the devil, offers methods for detecting and interrogating witches, and condemns skeptical or lenient attitudes toward diabolical influence. Influential in its time, it helped shape early modern beliefs and policies surrounding witchcraft and demonology.
