Ariel Durant

Ariel Durant was the co-author, along with her husband Will Durant, of 'The Story of Civilization', an eleven-volume set of books covering Western history. She was born on May 10, 1898, in Proskurov, Russian Empire (now Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine) and died on October 25, 1981. Ariel's contributions were essential to the work, and she shared the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction with Will in 1968 for the series' tenth volume, 'Rousseau and Revolution'. Her role in the writing and research was often under-recognized, but she was an integral part of the Durant's historical work.
