Catherine Drinker Bowen

Catherine Drinker Bowen (1897–1973) was an American biographer and historian. She is known for her biographies of eminent figures such as lawyer Oliver Wendell Holmes, philosopher Francis Bacon, and composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Her work was acclaimed for its vivid and accessible prose, and she received several awards for her contributions to literature, including the National Book Award for Nonfiction for her book 'Yankee from Olympus' about Justice Holmes.
