John W. Campbell Jr.
American science fiction writer and influential editor best known as editor of Astounding Science Fiction (later Analog) from 1937 to 1971. A key figure in the Golden Age of science fiction, he discovered and mentored authors such as Isaac Asimov and Robert A. Heinlein, wrote the novella 'Who Goes There?' (as Don A. Stuart), and shaped mid-20th-century genre tastes.
