Cyril of Alexandria
Cyril of Alexandria (c. 376–444) was Patriarch of Alexandria from 412 to 444. A leading theologian of the early Church, he played a central role in the Christological controversies of the 5th century, strongly opposing Nestorianism and defending the title Theotokos for Mary. He presided over the Council of Ephesus (431) and is remembered for his extensive theological writings and influential role in shaping orthodox Christology.
